Easton Zoning Board approves Reynolds Street teardown-rebuild 5-0 over deck privacy fight. Chairperson Ryan Cook and four colleagues voted unanimously to let petitioner Justin Fisher demolish and rebuild a nonconforming single-family home at 8 Reynolds Street within its existing footprint. Abutter Lori Hein of 40 Williams Street objected to a proposed 275-square-foot rooftop deck sitting roughly 129 inches from her lot line, calling it a structure that "will loom over our sight line, over our entire property." Cook ruled the bylaw's "substantially more detrimental" test never applies because the project meets the setback, footprint and height criteria outright.

Town staff also disclosed a new state law, retroactive to July 1, that will let similar rebuilds skip special-permit review entirely going forward.
