EASTON — The Easton Community Preservation Committee recommended funding for six projects bound for the 2027 town meeting warrant. Deputy Director of Public Works Greg Swan secured a 6-0 vote for $990,000 to landscape and restore the historic Town Hall grounds, warning that phased funding risked becoming "a sunk cost" amid rising material prices. Trustees Fred Ames and Kristen Stone won 5-0-1 approval for $750,000 toward a $1.5 million elevator and kitchen project at Oaks Ames Memorial Hall, saying the hall would otherwise forfeit $800,000 in outside grants.
Habitat for Humanity's Joe Souza secured $150,000 for two Morse Road duplex homes, 6-0, as staff noted Easton sits 12 units short of the state's affordable-housing threshold. The committee also approved $118,000 for a VFW parking lot and $36,582 for Frothingham Park erosion repairs, but deferred, 6-0, competing herbicide and diver-assisted weed-removal plans for New Pond until November.
