Other Committee · Meeting of October 14, 2026

Easton's Building Committee voted to recommend $728,941 for a new radio tower and fire training equipment after losing rights to a private tower. Fire Chief Alexander said the town discovered it had no legal right to equipment it had placed on a privately owned Boundary Street tower, which otherwise would have charged "tens of thousands of dollars a year in rent" rising 3 percent annually. The panel also voted 5-0 to forward $183,328.86 in police equipment, including a $113,775 virtual-reality training system and a $46,840 drug analyzer, to the Select Board.

Mitch, the project manager, reported the combined police, fire and DPW building on Depot Street is 72 percent complete, with completion pushed into February and March due to a required smoke-evacuation redesign and a $658,000 geothermal-well cost overrun. Both equipment recommendations still need Select Board approval.
