Easton CPC Backs Warrant Article for Land Restrictions
Easton's Community Preservation Committee backs a $53,300 fix for a years-old land compliance gap.

Easton's Community Preservation Committee backs a $53,300 fix for a years-old land compliance gap. Members voted unanimously Thursday to include a special town meeting warrant article authorizing Community Preservation Act funds to finally record conservation restrictions on four town-owned properties, after town counsel reversed earlier guidance and said a direct town meeting vote was required. Staff liaison Wayne said the article becomes unnecessary if the Taunton River Watershed Alliance, which met the same night, approves a grant covering the remaining balance beyond the Conservation Commission's committed $20,000.
"There is a very good chance and we're very hopeful that we will not actually need to do this," Wayne told the committee. Member Ed pressed staff on long-term monitoring, warning that "boards change, people move on." The committee also approved its August 27 minutes, 5-0 with two abstentions.
