Easton Select Board approves $2.6 million in fire, infrastructure contracts at June meeting

EASTON — June 8, 2026 — Easton Select Board approves millions in fire department training gear and public works contracts at its June 8 meeting. The board unanimously approved a $314,311.05 contract with SafeWear Inc. for firefighter training simulators — including a blacked-out confined-space maze, a pump simulator, and a portable roof-ventilation prop — for the new Depot Street public safety building, which Fire Chief Alexander called a first-of-its-kind training facility in the region. The board also approved a $93,034 extrication-tools contract with FireMatic Supply Company, sold an ambulance and EMS equipment to the city of Pawtucket for $75,000 and two cardiac monitors to Attleboro for $10,000, and approved a new intermunicipal apparatus-maintenance agreement with Pawtucket. On the public works side, contracts totaling more than $2.4 million covered a Main Street culvert scour repair ($508,077), Prospect Street water main Phase 2 ($1,493,013.50), Belmont Street sewer extension construction ($461,454), and a $130,000 construction-administration amendment — several funded by MBTA communities and MassDOT grants. The board also authorized a $281,730 Community Preservation Act grant agreement with the Easton Children's Museum for exterior restoration of the historic fire station building it occupies.
