Easton OKs $3.1M for public safety building

Easton Select Board approves $3.1 million in furniture and technology contracts for its nearly finished public safety and DPW buildings. The board unanimously awarded $961,594 for furniture and fixtures and $2,182,387 for IT and audiovisual systems, leaving about $1.4 million of a $5.56 million project budget. Officials also approved a $131,519 change order with contractor Fontaine Brothers and honored retiring Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M.

Quinn III, whose office helped solve a 1998 Easton sexual assault through DNA retesting, calling it "one of the worst cases in serial rapists that I've seen." The board appointed Chris Lopes and Ryan Cook to the Planning and Zoning Board, accepted Michaela Wolf's resignation from that board, reallocated $20,000 in Stonehill College funds to the new Easton Celebrations Committee, and voted to open the warrant for the November 9 special town meeting, with articles due September 23.
