Easton CPC Defers Leadership Vote, Eyes Langwater Farm Appraisal at July Meeting

EASTON — June 11, 2026 — Easton's Community Preservation Committee deferred its annual leadership reorganization and flagged a possible appraisal vote for Langwater Farm development rights at its next meeting. Meeting remotely on June 11, the committee voted unanimously to accept minutes from its April 14 session — the previous meeting having been cancelled due to technical issues — before Interim Chair Ed Hands said he does not wish to continue in the chair role. Members Phil Vecchio and Rob Rogers both declined nominations, with Rogers citing feeling "quite new to the committee," and the body reached informal consensus to revisit the question at the July 9 meeting after the Select Board completes reappointments. On Langwater Farm, staff coordinator Wayne told the committee that Ames Realty Trust has applied to the state Department of Agricultural Resources for an Agricultural Preservation Restriction grant on roughly 38 acres of fields along Route 138, and is also seeking CPC funds to cover the gap in development-rights costs; a formal vote to authorize an independent appraisal, estimated at between $5,000 and $10,000, is expected July 9. The committee also confirmed that the state has approved reimbursement of a $100,000 PARC grant for Swift Park, with the wire transfer expected within two weeks.
