Easton CPC advances seven grant requests, rejects two
Other Committee · Meeting of August 13, 2026
Easton's Community Preservation Committee advances seven of nine grant bids, stalls two. The committee voted 7-0 by roll call to invite draft applications from the Affordable Housing Trust ($250,000), South Shore Habitat for Humanity ($150,000 for two Morse Road homes), Frothingham Park ($30,000-$35,000), the Conservation Commission's New Pond and Tufts Farm projects, a Borderland bog-garden restoration ($18,000), and the VFW post's parking lot (roughly $180,000, contingent on eligibility review). Members declined to advance a Borderland mansion window-repair request and a $25,000 Easton Historical Society tricentennial garden, citing unresolved state funding questions and a $440,000 pool of separately earmarked anniversary donations.
"Hell will freeze over before I get involved in another window project," said member Ed Hans. Staff liaison Wayne told the committee Easton remains "thirteen units short" of its state affordable-housing threshold.
