School Committee · Meeting of August 13, 2026
Easton School Committee closes FY26 books with a $253,800 surplus, adds new elective. The committee returned $447,873 to the town as part of an earlier $1.8 million to $1.9 million turnback commitment, according to Director of Finance Joe Spagna, who called the district's $51 million budget position "pretty much a bullseye." Members also approved $1,064 in added funding for campus wayfinding signage, bringing the project total to $31,064, and unanimously added "Introduction to Sports Officiating," a new semester elective built around a Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association referee-certification program, to the Oliver Ames High School Program of Studies. The committee separately approved hiring three Unit A staff members above Step 7 of the salary schedule and gave second-reading approval to updated JKAA and new KBG policies.
Aramark's food service program is on pace to end fiscal 2026 with a roughly $737,351 fund surplus.
