EASTON — The Easton School Committee voted 5-0 Thursday to ratify a three-year contract with the Easton Educators Association's Unit B, running July 2026 through June 2029. Director of Finance Joe Spagna told members the district has not completed required state and federal financial audits dating back to fiscal 2022, citing missing supporting documentation rather than incorrect figures. Member Kelli Pircio said she found it "surprising that we've been put into this position" and that the district risked losing funding without anyone flagging it sooner.
Superintendent Christine Pruitt reported total enrollment at 3,313 students, down 27 from last year, with Easton Middle School losing 44 students, the steepest decline districtwide. The committee also approved hiring a Unit A high school educator above contractual step seven and marked the retirement of school resource officer Chris Acre, with 11 applicants under review for his replacement.
