Easton School Committee Approves Three Contracts, Authorizes Regional State Budget Letter

EASTON — June 16, 2026 — Easton School Committee approves three service contracts and hears middle school schedule overhaul plan. The committee voted unanimously Tuesday to renew its food service agreement with Aramark — with per-meal fees rising 3.9 percent to 13 cents administrative and 13.5 cents management under a Consumer Price Index adjustment — approve a $98,937 weight-room equipment purchase from Gronk Fitness, and authorize a $137,880 contract with Weston & Sampson for wastewater treatment plant operations. Easton Middle School Principal Luke Carroll presented a four-goal school improvement plan whose centerpiece is a complete review of the school's decade-old master schedule, with a new schedule committee to form before September and implementation targeted for 2027-28; he also set a two-year goal to raise MCAS math scores for students with disabilities and the lowest-performing subgroup, which he said are running five to eight scale-score points behind accountability targets. Oliver Ames Principal Kelly Cavanaugh outlined three goals driven by the school's NEASC self-study, including launching a student portfolio system tied to the district's newly approved Vision of the Graduate framework and expanding security-team meetings from twice yearly to quarterly following completion of the school's new vestibule project. Chair Jackie Wiseman was authorized to co-sign a regional letter to the state budget conference committee urging a $160 per-pupil minimum aid floor, a foundation budget review commission, higher circuit breaker funding, and full universal free school meal funding — all ahead of a July 1 deadline.
