Conservation panel OKs $25,000 for land trust deal
Conservation · Meeting of August 10, 2026
Easton Conservation Commission commits $25,000 to fix a compliance gap left by past land purchases. Chair Carroll and four fellow commissioners voted 5-0 to grant conservation restrictions to the Wildlands Trust on four town parcels bought years ago with Community Preservation Committee money, a step required at purchase but never completed. Environmental Planner Jen said the required endowment totals about $53,300, split between the $25,000 commission contribution, $4,000 in CPC administrative funds and a pending $24,300 grant; if the grant fails, the town goes to Town Meeting for the rest.
The board also approved permits for a commercial building at 313 Turnpike Street, where engineer Eric Diaz confirmed the stormwater design "exceeds the water quality volume by about double," and for a septic repair at 3 Morse Road. Abutter Tim Daniels told the board his property already floods "like three inches" in normal rain.
