Easton Council on Aging Loses Three Staff Positions
Council on Aging · Meeting of September 10, 2026
Easton's Council on Aging reports losing three staff positions to budget cuts. The Council on Aging Director told the newly expanded seven-member board Thursday that a transportation coordinator and a full-time driver position were eliminated from the town budget, warning there's "no way" a scaled-back staff can cover the work. Four new members, appointed by the Select Board, joined the board Thursday, pushing election of a chair and vice chair to the October 8 meeting.
A new administrative assistant, Wanda, funded through state grant money rather than the town budget, starts Monday. The regional SHINE Medicare-counseling office in Middleborough fielded more than 800 calls from Easton residents last year that it could not serve, after the local program logged 160 open-enrollment appointments.
